Privacy Policy

In short

Echoshelf keeps everything on your iPhone. We do not collect, receive, sell or share any personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

What stays on your iPhone

Your audiobook files, your listening position, bookmarks, covers you choose, settings and listening statistics are stored only on your iPhone. If you use iCloud or computer backups for your iPhone, they may be included in those backups, under Apple's own terms.

Cover search (only when you ask)

When you tap “Search Open Library” for a cover (after confirming once), or “Find missing covers online” in Settings (after confirming), Echoshelf sends the title of the book, which you can edit before searching, to Open Library (openlibrary.org), a service operated by the Internet Archive. For the bulk search, only the titles of up to 10 books without a cover are sent, one at a time. Like any internet request, Open Library can see your IP address and handles it under its own privacy policy. Echoshelf then downloads the cover image you pick, only from Open Library or Internet Archive servers. Nothing else about you or your library is sent, no cookies are stored, and nothing is sent unless you ask for the search. You can also choose a cover from your Photos or Files without any network access.

Wi-Fi transfer

If you open “Wi-Fi transfer”, Echoshelf starts a small web server on your local network (never on the cellular network), protected by a 6-digit PIN shown on your iPhone. It runs only while that screen is open and Echoshelf is in the foreground, and stops by itself after 10 minutes without activity or after too many wrong PINs. Files go directly from your computer to your iPhone and never pass through us or through the internet. The local connection is not encrypted, so use this feature only on networks you trust.

Purchases

The 14-day trial and the unlock are in-app purchases handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive your name, payment details or Apple ID. Echoshelf only checks, on your device, whether you have the purchase.

Children

Echoshelf does not collect data from anyone, including children. The only information that leaves your iPhone is the cover search described above, and only when you ask for it.
